12 Days of Christmas doTERRA Contest – by Kimberley Milousis
About Lesson

FOUR Calming Words

On the fourth day of Christmas, dōTERRA gave to me:
Four Calming Words

It’s DAY 04, and, as I’m writing this, I recognize that there are so many different people with so many difference experiences who will be reading these words. Some of you may be in a really good place and loving the holiday season! For others, this frenetic and chaotic time may threaten to stress you out and overwhelm you. And for still others, this may be a very challenging season where you struggle to keep yourself above water, never mind engage in “tidings of comfort and joy”.

In the centre of every hurricane is a calm core that the raging wind spirals around. God knows that, with the societal storm we’ve been experiencing, we could all use a calm centre. Today will be focused on just that: creating peace in a storm. And our prize will help bring rest to one blessed person!

The Prize

1x 10 mL Adaptiv Calming Blend
1x Adaptiv Calming Blend Capsules
1x Calmer Restful Blend
1x ClaryCalm Monthly Blend for Women

How To Enter

Step 01 – Read the Education content below. It will add great value to your life if you apply it!
Step 02 – Complete the Fourth Day of Christmas Quiz.
Step 03 – If you have any questions about the lesson, ask in the Comments.

BONUS ENTRY
In the comments below, share some good news which gives you hope for the year to come.

Education

We’re keeping it super simple today. Here are 3 techniques that you can use to stay centred in a chaotic time.

Text In Image:
Staying Centred in Stormy Times. Here are 3 ways to keep calm and relaxed.
1) Positive Focus. Stormy times are infinitely worse when we feel they will last forever. By finding something to look forward to, we give ourselves hope and allow our minds to seek uplifting opportunities.
2) Community. When things are going poorly, it’s easy to turtle up and hide. What we really need is the exact opposite. By connecting with positive people, we gain hope and feel heard.
3) Remove Bad News. It’s easy to get addicted to bad news. It’s thoroughly stimulating, and we can often feel a sense of importance. If you want to feel better, cut it out. Only keep what’s strictly needed.

Today’s quiz is more of a mission. Your goal is to share some words of encouragement with your friends or communities online. For those who need some inspiration, a year or so ago, I ran a social campaign called Be The Spark. Each story of hope shared during that campaign was so moving and so powerful. I highly recommend watching at least the main Be The Spark video. Visit Be The Spark Here.

Fourth Day of Christmas Quiz

Quiz Question:
Instead of a quiz, today we have a mission. Go out into the internet and share some hope for a bright future. Share a post that you feel will life people up and bring them hope. You can do this on any social media platform you like.* When you’re done, copy your post and email us your post along with the URL, so we can go and see your post.

*For those who are not on social media, you can send an encouraging text message, email, or card to someone instead. Please send us a screenshot or a photo of your encouraging message.

How to answer:
Email proof of completion to admin@kimberleymilousis.com.

  1. Oh yes, this resonates so strongly with me.
In the Bible it tells us “Hope deferred makes the heart sick”. During the past 2 years many have lost hope. Many have lost a sense of community.
Some things i have done :
Have a purpose each day. It could be as simple as cleaning out a drawer!
Make a phone call. Connect with someone. Ask them how they are doing. Try to call someone outside of your circle. Start building a deeper community of friends. I know this is difficult, but you will be surprised at the deeper friendships you will build. Yes, you have to take the initiative. But believe me, it is worth it.
Stop watching the news feeds! Reduce time on social media. Or take a break from it for a while. This was/is a challenge for me as i dont want to appear to have my head in the sand. But the rewards are great.
Find something to laugh about. “Find the Funny”. You will be amazed how laughter lightens your spirit.
Smile… I have to remind myself to do this regularly. It is both good for yourself and it certainly brightens those around you?
Be blessed as you are a blessing❤️

    1. I agree! The pandemic has really taught me the power of relationships. Even going months without seeing certain people IRL, as soon as the time came to see each other again… it was as if nothing had changed! The pandemic has certainly brought my partner and I closer!

  2. Arlete Cevada-Marcos

These are just sooo lovely and inspiring!
You’ve got me thinking about how I too can be a “spark of hope” to the world… Let’s see what the Lord impresses on me! I’ll be back! 😉

    1. Arlete Cevada-Marcos

I wanted to share a Scripture verse that has a great reminder and promise of God’s presence, thus giving us hope, strengthening us and our faith…

      It is Isaiah 43:2
      “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.”

What encourages me here is that God promises to be with us, no matter what we are going through, no matter how tough it gets, and how weak we feel. Ships don’t sink because of the water AROUND them; ships sink because of the water that gets IN them! So don’t let what’s happening around you get inside you and weigh you down. Look up! God will be with us through it all and we are promised that all things work out for good for those who love the Lord. All we have to do is hope, trust, and believe… I claim this promise for each one of us! <3

  3. Testimonies are always encouraging especially when God enters into the circumstances and gives comfort, peace and hope. He frees us. He is always worthy of our praises regardless of what is ahead of us. I know He will be there right beside me, walking with me and as the poem Footprints shows, He will carry me through whatever comes my way. I can trust Him always.

  4. I absolutely love my clarycalm. Its my life saver every month, without it I suffer with such excruciating pain. I use the adaptive on my eldest son who is autistic and it has made such a difference in him.

  5. I wouldn’t be without my clarycalm. It’s been so useful for some of the stress I’ve been through this year.

I steer clear of social media – that is one of my gifts to myself.

I will share something I came across recently that inspired me – a lady who wrote a song about her trauma of betrayal and how she came out of it on the other side.
I browsed the website she mentioned and while there is so much heartache out there, there is huge hope and help available

  6. Good morning! I spent quite a bit of time deciding how I wanted to express gratitude this morning and have created a Facebook Post. It is not a story per se…it is a shout out to some folks who were instrumental in me breaking through this year. It has been on my mind to do this for the past week. This morning’s exercise helped me pull the trigger. https://www.facebook.com/anne.reid.7982/ Screen shot is attached.

  7. Charlene Saaiman

This passage has gotten me through a very difficult 14 months without my husband here – But I am looking forward to seeing him in 7 days! Yes 7 days……Its been so long and I have prayed so hard for him to be with us, even if it just for 3 weeks……
    This passage brings me solice….

    1. Charlene, my heart breaks for you. I remember my husband had to go away on a course for 5 days – on the third day I cried so much because I missed him. On the fourth day I couldn’t stop… and then he surprised me! I was so happy he came back early! (And he was laughing at me because I was crying!! Men…)

    2. Wow, this makes my heart so warm and fuzzy! I don’t know how you have managed to go so long…. But I can only imagine how excited you must be!!

  8. It’s ok to feel tired even exhausted. By choosing this opportunity to rest, refill ourselves with good energy and make a change, we can grow from the inside and make it glow on the outside.

I had the chance to meet someone I would never have met if I hadn’t changed my perspectives and slowed down my pace. I’m so grateful as I needed that more than I thought.

  9. I am so excited and hopeful for the year that is to come! We are blessed with healthy and happy family. We are blessed with our fur baby and 4 feathered babies. I and can’t wait to see how the Lord blessed us with all these gifts that we would never be able to have on our own!

  10. Hi fellow Essential Oil lovers…

To give yourself a one minute break to enjoy nature, please do the following:

    1. Turn up your volume
    2. Hit play
    3. Close your eyes and enjoy!

  11. Nicole Gaudioso

Hello! for everyone reading, I’m sure you know by now….I have 4 babies. Ages 5,4,3 and new born. when i first became a mom my starting weight was 115. My end weight was 130. having kids back to back, my weight is now 220. Since having my son in August, I’ve been having harsh thoughts about myself. going in and out of depression, and may I tell you. its been hard. i get stuck in my head drown in my thoughts of self doubt, as anxiety takes over my brain.

This upcoming year, I have a plan for hope, i have a plan for change. 2022 will be the year i change my body, to make a healthier life for myself.

    Big change is coming <3

    1. These are such powerful words. Always be kind to yourself and remember you created and brought four beautiful human being into this world! It took 9 months to create this life, and you can’t expect it to change overnight. I see an amazing year ahead for you!

    2. Aveline - EL Admin 2

Nicole, how encouraging it is to hear your story. Your body has made beautiful babies and it’s also important to recognize that. So exciting to hear that you are ready to make changes and see change in your life! What a great opportunity you have in this new year 🙂

  12. Addition to my video.

A little bit of nature today to ground you to the earth…

I captured this video in the spring while on a walk. I didn’t see the bees, but I sure heard them (and the birds). I immediately had to video so I could capture what I saw and heard. I swear that I can smell the apple blossoms as I watch the video. I hope you all enjoy it.

  13. Irina Artemenko

The promise of Romans 8:28 that God works for our good “in all things” is reassuring. It means that no matter the circumstance, there are only two qualifiers for God to be working all things together for our good. … Those who love God are called according to His purpose.
THIS IS HOPE FOR YEARS AHEAD

  14. We are doing a food drive for our local food bank.. 100 people have already donated and it is still climbing. We are announcing it on FB. Christine Bigelow is organizing it, and we all spread the word.

  15. Firstly – I did no expect this at all.

    – For the first 11 days we didn’t have power due to cable theft and a transformer that burnt out.
    – My clients are struggling to pay me during COVID – I try to help as much but if feels like it’s never gonna end.
    – Some friends have been tested positive for COVID.
    – It’s the first Christmas without my mom – on the 16th she will be gone for 9 months
    – Today friends of mine was in a car accident, exactly like my mom and how she passed away. They survived – the car was a write off.

So YES. I feel overwhelmed. I feel mad. I am overthrown by emotions.
I do not feel like a SPARK. I am not HAPPY. I do not have HOPE.

And as I’m reading today’s “On the fourth day of Christmas doTERRA gave to me
Four Calming Words” my heart shattered and tears streamed down my face. I read it about ten times and yes – Elevation and Rose eventually made me feel better. So let’s do this.

    1. Positive Focus:
My goal is to treasure every moment I have with my family and friends.
To set boundaries with my work as I cannot work for free.
Get back into a positive habit with my ADHD memory list and oils! (Will be getting my free Frankincense soon – whoohoo!!!)
Make my dogs happy as they make me (They are therapy dogs after all!)

    2. Community:
Since December is also my most favourite time of the year (anniversary, Christmas, my birthday),I decided to surround myself ONLY with positive friends! We will be celebrating birthdays (I have 3 parties this year) with the most important people in my life.
We (Heart-Drive charity) also gave the ESKOM (electricity) technicians parcels to express our gratitude for them working straight to fix the power – their faces… I have no words. They kept on sharing how they appreciate it. It makes you feel like you made a difference and that you have purpose.
Oh and friends with COVID – I delivered cookies!

    3. Remove Bad News:
I also removed myself from negative groups on Whatsapp and took a break from certain Facebook friends. I need the positivity now more than ever! And yes – I’m keeping the dogs! Go away! 🙂

    THE GOOD NEWS:
I will be spending my 5th anniversary with my husband! (Any wooden gift ideas?)
I will be sharing my birthday (and other friends’ birthdays) from Saturday onwards!
I cannot wait to finally see my sister and bro for Christmas. As both of us (ladies) cannot cook well we will be doing a potjie on Christmas Day! We planned a scrumptious menu!
The pets will also be having their own Christmas unboxing party – they deserve all the presents in the world!!
Oh – and because I love Christmas? Everyone will be getting oils!!!!!!!

    1. This was our last family photo with my mom – taken last year after Christmas dinner.
      On the left top is Stephan, my husband, our father and mother;
Bottom is me, Chante (my sister – not actually related but who cares) and my bro!
In front is Tipsy and Taylor (our therapy Staffies!)

      1. Just adding my prediction for 2022:
Social Media will BOOM even more! More businesses will be needing and using it to maximise profit!
I am going to be Premier!
I will be decreasing my meds
I am going to be in my positive habit again!
I will be in charge of my emotions and not the other way around!
AND YES – Every time I say I love you, I mean it. That was my last words to my mom and I know she loved me back.

        1. My heart aches for you with the loss of your mom 9 months ago. Mine still aches over the loss of my mother in August 2016. The ache never goes away because you really loved her. This is what happens when you really love someone. Joy when they are alive and the ache when they are gone. But it is better to have been filled with love and experience the pain then to never have ever loved someone. God bless you, comfort you and keep you strong during these trials.

  16. Hello everyone, I would like to share with you one of many good news passages from the bible. At the moment this is my favorite in this time of my life and it gives me hope.

Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you. Psalm 55:22

I also would like to thank all the ladies that shared their personal experiences on the ”Be The Spark” site. It was so touching and rewarding for me personally to listen to your stories. Thank you for being brave to share something so close to your heart and embracing the pain that goes with sharing some of these stories. You ladies are a spark of light!!!

    1. Aveline - EL Admin 2

I agree, this community and their stories are so touching and encourage us all! Thank you for sharing that verse – so applicable today!

  17. Some good news that gives me hope for the year to come is that I will be starting a new job in the new year. New year, new beginning, new hope for good things to come!

  18. I shared this to Facebook the other day and the comments I got were staggering. I have been struggling and upon seeing this it was like an eye opener. I spoke with my husband, said I needed extra support. It opened up a line of communication. It allowed me to see that I wasn’t struggling alone and that there was a name to my struggle. It was like identifying it made it easier to see how I could make it better. We’re still in a pandemic and the holiday season is usually higher stress. My hope is that people are kind to one another and more importantly to themselves. Be kind to yourself, be forgiving and more forward in a positive way

  19. Often we take people for granted. Who we spend time with is the most important. Being quiet will bring some clarity. There is promise, good and love in the world. There is hope for tomorrow. The human spirit is very resilient. Connect with positive people to feel heard and gain hope. Eliminate or reduce bad news – only watch what is needed. Do the things you love, or try new things to find out if you love doing them. Practise daily positive affirmations. They will lift your mood and bring you peace. Pray, and God will hear your requests.

  20. Joanne Allaire

I love my clarycalm! I agree with these 3 techniques that I applied more and more in my daily life. In 2022 i want to balance my life between work and creativity . I want to live the present moment with consciousness. One of my gold is to be educating and helping people to live with natural solution for a optimal health. I want to be a spark of light and love for the people surrounding me. There is hope quote that I like.

  21. This is such a lovely package/prize! I have lots of hope for the year ahead and the future. I am currently on maternity leave, but was hired for a new position in a hospital. I start in 2 weeks and it is such a positive for me and my young family!

  22. This really resonates with me! It’s so important. During these last 2 years it’s been tough and so many people have lost hope and faith in so many things! This pandemic has truly taught me so much about relationships and friendships! It’s so important to spread hope to everyone we can!

  23. Roberta Adderley

I watched the “I am the spark” video. Will definitely check out the individual videos.
Uplifting thoughts for the new year are that there is power in knowledge and we have access to amazing education. Every day I learn a little bit more. Next year will be my best yet with the knowledge I have gained from this year ?
Today’s prize set is amazing!!! Blessings to the winner ?

  24. I love the statements of being (calm) in this crazy world. We all need that, or at least I need that. I like the thought of being (positive) and hopeful for the future, and although I dont use social media, I do keep in touch via (WhatsApp).

So here is some information that I shared today with the community, friends and others. It is a reminder that God is in control, that he orders, your life, and that he has an ‘amazing plan’ even when you can’t see it.

    MORNING TEA
    TUESDAY 14 DECEMBER 2021

    HE ORCHESTRATES YOUR LIFE

    TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
    PROVERBS 19:21, NKJV
“There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will
    stand.”

    TODAY’S WORD
God is a strategic God. He has laid out an exact plan for your life down to the smallest details. God knows the people you are going to need to help fulfill your destiny. He knows who He is going to use to give you a good break and who He is going to use to put in a good word for you. He knows when someone is going to need to be there to help you out of a difficult time. God has it all figured out. Your steps are being directed by the Creator of the universe, not randomly or vaguely.

God is orchestrating our lives down to the very second, causing us to be at the right place at the right time so we can meet the right people that He ordained before the foundation of the world. I can look back over my life and see time and time again where God directed my steps down to the exact moment. If I had been ten seconds earlier or ten seconds later, I would have missed an opportunity.

Today, be encouraged because your times are in His hands. He orchestrates your life, so keep your faith and trust in Him. 2022 will be Amazing, because God will orchestrate your steps, your season & your life!

    PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for orchestrating my life. I trust that my times are in Your hands. I trust that You are working things out for my good as I keep my faith and hope in You. Thank you God for your blessings, Amen.

  25. Our world lately seems to be completely at odds with each other and such anger and animosity swirling around us. I take comfort in knowing that none of this surprises God, he is not shocked by the state of our world. He is here and with us and gives us peace.
Proverbs 1:33 NLT says ” But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm. Taking time to be in nature and commune with God has been the biggest blessing in the last 6 months.

  26. Changes are to come for me! This gift package would be an amazing addition to my plan, I love and use everything included! ?

2021 has gotten me in the dumps with so much of the uncertainty throughout the year. With much uncertainty still present, I have decided it is time to just power on & make some positive changes!

I have made myself a new goal list, including dietary, physical activity & relationship changes, and I look forward to it. It definitely gives me hope & something to look forward to in 2022! I’m not much for sharing on facebook, but I shared an article on facebook today with some tips & tricks to help with motivation. See the URL below for anyone interested!

  27. Thank you for the tips on staying calm and relaxed. The Be The Spark videos were so touching and encouraging. Thanks to all the ladies who were so open in sharing their stories. It’s inspired me to be more intentional in sharing hope and love to those I come in contact with.

  28. Our country has gone through a rough patch this year. As with many other countries. What gives me hope is how many people have become entrepreneurs after losing their jobs. So many small businesses have started up and people are standing together to build their communities.

Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you. Psalm 55:22 I also would like to thank all the ladies that shared their personal experiences on the ''Be The Spark'' site. It was so touching and rewarding for me personally to listen to your stories. Thank you for being brave to share something so close to your heart and embracing the pain that goes with sharing some of these stories. You ladies are a spark of light!!!

Firstly - I did no expect this at all. - For the first 11 days we didn't have power due to cable theft and a transformer that burnt out. - My clients are struggling to pay me during COVID - I try to help as much but if feels like it's never gonna end. - Some friends have been tested positive for COVID. - It's the first Christmas without my mom - on the 16th she will be gone for 9 months - Today friends of mine was in a car accident, exactly like my mom and how she passed away. They survived - the car was a write off. So YES. I feel overwhelmed. I feel mad. I am overthrown by emotions. I do not feel like a SPARK. I am not HAPPY. I do not have HOPE. And as I'm reading today's "On the fourth day of Christmas doTERRA gave to me Four Calming Words" my heart shattered and tears streamed down my face. I read it about ten times and yes - Elevation and Rose eventually made me feel better. So let's do this. 1. Positive Focus: My goal is to treasure every moment I have with my family and friends. To set boundaries with my work as I cannot work for free. Get back into a positive habit with my ADHD memory list and oils! (Will be getting my free Frankincense soon - whoohoo!!!) Make my dogs happy as they make me (They are therapy dogs after all!) 2. Community: Since December is also my most favourite time of the year (anniversary, Christmas, my birthday),I decided to surround myself ONLY with positive friends! We will be celebrating birthdays (I have 3 parties this year) with the most important people in my life. We (Heart-Drive charity) also gave the ESKOM (electricity) technicians parcels to express our gratitude for them working straight to fix the power - their faces... I have no words. They kept on sharing how they appreciate it. It makes you feel like you made a difference and that you have purpose. Oh and friends with COVID - I delivered cookies! 3. Remove Bad News: I also removed myself from negative groups on Whatsapp and took a break from certain Facebook friends. I need the positivity now more than ever! And yes - I'm keeping the dogs! Go away! :) THE GOOD NEWS: I will be spending my 5th anniversary with my husband! (Any wooden gift ideas?) I will be sharing my birthday (and other friends' birthdays) from Saturday onwards! I cannot wait to finally see my sister and bro for Christmas. As both of us (ladies) cannot cook well we will be doing a potjie on Christmas Day! We planned a scrumptious menu! The pets will also be having their own Christmas unboxing party - they deserve all the presents in the world!! Oh - and because I love Christmas? Everyone will be getting oils!!!!!!!

This was our last family photo with my mom - taken last year after Christmas dinner. On the left top is Stephan, my husband, our father and mother; Bottom is me, Chante (my sister - not actually related but who cares) and my bro! In front is Tipsy and Taylor (our therapy Staffies!)

We are doing a food drive for our local food bank.. 100 people have already donated and it is still climbing. We are announcing it on FB. Christine Bigelow is organizing it, and we all spread the word.

The promise of Romans 8:28 that God works for our good “in all things” is reassuring. It means that no matter the circumstance, there are only two qualifiers for God to be working all things together for our good. ... Those who love God are called according to His purpose. THIS IS HOPE FOR YEARS AHEAD
