Gift Of The Wise Men

“The Wisdom of God is foolishness to man.”

There’s a fine line between foolishness and wisdom, madness and genius, insanity and insight. It’s easy for us to get stuck in logical ways of thinking and forget to include our heart and spirit in the decision-making process. Thankfully, the wise men followed divine guidance as they left their homeland to travel to Christ’s birth.

They gave him three gifts: Gold (to honour him as King), Frankincense (to honour him as God), and Myrrh (to honour the sacrifice he would make by his death). And yet, they gave these gifts to a poor child living out back behind the inn with animals. Logic would say there’s nothing kingly about the manger-boy at all, certainly nothing that would suggest that he was the Son of God. But they followed deeper wisdom and honoured God in the child. Now, these men are forever known as Wise.

As I smell Frankincense and Myrrh today, I ponder the meaning of these sacred gifts. In addition to its powerful properties for healing the body and restoring DNA, Frankincense has been used through the ages to help restore spiritual connection. There’s never been a more urgent time to restore our connection with God.

Myrrh is no small gift either. Used historically for the cleaning of wounds and embalming, Myrrh purifies the skin, cleanses the body, and acts as a powerful antibacterial agent. With Christ’s mission on earth involving spiritual trials, physical pain, and a powerful death, the gift of Myrrh prophesied about his future. For us today, Myrrh can be used for its powerful antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-parasitic qualities, as well as for skin health and even a sense of spiritual protection.

I’m so excited that dōTERRA is giving Frankincense away for free this year in their December promo, because Frankincense is an oil that everyone should experience! 1. Looking forward to incorporating Frankincense in my essential oil rituals. Maybe I will win the Myrrh and use both of them together for maximum benefits. 🤞🤞🤞

  2. I thinks it amazing that studies say that these oils can help aid inflammation, some cancers, oral use (help bad breath) asthma and arthritis. These oils are super oils and are a great household medicinal use. I have Frankincense and will be getting Myrrh soon.

  3. Thank you for providing the meaning behind the gifts the wisemen gave to Christ. I had no idea of the spiritual and healing powers behind these. I’m anxious to try them all for their healing properties, but the one that stands out the most for me is Frankincense, not just for it’s healing powers but more so that it has been used through the ages to restore spiritual connections. You are right in saying that there has never been a more urgent time than this to restore our connection with God. I look forward to trying all of these.

  4. Finances didn’t allow for me to do a large order this month but I will say I love my Frankincense and use it daily on my face! Not only does it smell wonderful but my skin feels so good!

  5. I love that link with Christ’s death and myrrh.
Specifically this quote: “Used historically for the cleaning of wounds and embalming, Myrrh purifies the skin, cleanses the body, and acts as a powerful antibacterial agent. With Christ’s mission on earth involving spiritual trials, physical pain, and a powerful death, the gift of Myrrh prophesied about his future.”
Really profound and enlightening for me.

  6. Oh wow @Charlene Saaiman, that transformation is phenomenal.
Also, you have now made me aware that Frankincense can be used for rosacea therapy.
I know it’s powerful for skin, but this is a really amazing example.

  7. I love frankincense, use it often in roller bottles along with other oils, it’s so good for the skin, an all around wonderful oil. I have never had myrrh before and I’m looking forward to smelling it for the first time!

Finances won’t allow for a large order this month, unfortunately. I use Frankincense regularly tho. I also have Myrrh, but forget to use it. Will have to change that

  9. Someone mentioned an oils of the Bible kit, if doTERRA ever offered that again it would definitely be something I would be interested in purchasing!! It sounds lovely, and would make an amazing gift 🎁!

  10. Didn’t realize Myrrh had such antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-parasitic properties. Sounds like quite the power house oil. I love frankincense and dint realize it can help repair DNA… just wow!

  11. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to participate in entering into that prize opportunity by taking advantage of the December promo, but I have to say, my first time smelling Frankincense and Myrrh brought to mind the smell of wood from a Grandparents home- it has such a homey-element/scent, that it makes me long to be around family even more than I already do from the time spent apart during covid isolation and whatnot.
On top of that, we apply Frankincense oil on Ariella every night in a roller with FCO to help keep her epilepsy-induced absent seizures at bay, and we’ve noticed quite a difference since using it.
Thankfully (as of yet) we haven’t needed to have her on any indefinite seizure medication, and only have a Rescue med on hand in case she has a larger seizure compared to her absent ones. (Which, going back to the previous lesson, we were considering using CBD oil before we learned about and started using Frankincense-thankfully we skipped that step)
    * And in case anyone has any concerns, all the things we use or don’t use we run by/mention to/update our Neurologist.
