I haven’t told many people about my car accident in 2015. I’m not sure why. But after writing my course, Life More Abundantly, I knew this story had to be shared.
I started feeling pain long before I was in my car accident. At some points, I couldn’t walk 30 steps without a limp. Thankfully, after cleaning up my diet and taking the Lifelong Vitality supplements, I was almost completely back to normal…
…until I got into a wreck that totalled my car.
I originally thought I got out without a scratch! It wasn’t until 24-hours later when I could not raise my back beyond a 90-degree angle that I realized something was very wrong.
Physiotherapy yielded no benefits. So I stopped the treatment plan recommended by my insurance company and went in search of my own solution.
Thankfully, I found a chiropractor who treated me with Active Release Therapy. I slowly began to recover… but not without pain.
I was in constant low-grade pain until I discovered how to treat myself with essential oils that promoted good circulation and encouraged a healthy inflammatory response in my body. When I combined that with low-impact exercise, such as swimming and stretching, I started returning to my pre-accident vibrant self.
To my surprise, the more I ignored my tendency to be inactive and stay “comfortable” when I was in pain, and the more I got active— hiking, swimming, stretching—the less pain I experienced on an ongoing basis.
Today, I live virtually pain-free. Between the regular exercise I engage in, the whole-foods diet I eat, the supplements I take, and the essential oils I use to support myself, my body gets the support it needs to stay happy and strong.
Here are the top 5 essential oils I used to support my body in times of pain and to allow me to “move it, move it”!
Copaiba is an amazing oil that is better than CBD oil. It comes from a regal 50-100ft tree located in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil. It provides a relaxing, woodsy aroma and provides powerful supportive active ingredients to your body.
You can combine copaiba with a carrier oil for topical application or place a couple of drops directly under the tongue. When using it topically, you can follow it with wintergreen or peppermint essential oil to help push the oil deeper into the tissues.
On my road to recovery, I used the Copaiba Softgels. I learned from some of my business partners (who regularly help people recovering from serious injury) that their protocol of choice is 2 Copaiba Softgels, 2 Turmeric Softgels, and 2 Deep Blue Polyphenol capsules every day – morning and evening. I combined that with topical application of Frankincense essential oil and Aromatouch essential oil blend. This full protocol is what I now suggest for all my customers!
Turmeric is becoming increasingly popular in the natural health world because of its supportive properties for a healthy inflammatory response in the body. It contains curcuminoids that also help the body fight free radicals and have a role in protecting against oxidative damage.
However, turmeric powder is not readily bioavailable to the body. It needs to be combined with the essential oil. Turmeric essential oil helps the body have a healthy response to inflammation and oxidative stress, and supports healthy cellular function. It contains turmerones, which have been shown to help the body with the absorption of the curcumin in the turmeric powder. In fact, the presence of the essential oil makes the turmeric powder 20 times more bioavailable to the body!
Turmeric essential oil on its own should be a daily staple. It is rich in antioxidants and has potent anti-inflammatory properties. It has abundant antioxidants and has anti-allergic, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal qualities which can work wonders for your pain.
However, because I’m a fan of having my cake and eating it too, I take the turmeric softgels which combine the power of the essential oil with the benefits of the powder. If you are needing help with ongoing pain issues, I highly recommend taking the Turmeric Dual Chamber Capsules.
You can read more about Deep Blue Polyphenols in my Polyphenols 101 blog post. Contrary to popular belief, the Deep Blue Polyphenols don’t actually contain any of our Deep Blue essential oil blend. That oil blend cannot be used internally, so we definitely wouldn’t have a capsule with that oil in it!
Deep Blue Polyphenols are part of the healthy inflammatory response protocol that I suggest to all my customers. As I mentioned above, this protocol is a game-changer!
For those wanting a topical application using our Deep Blue oil, you can’t do better than our Deep Blue Rub. Apply this rub as needed for almost instant relief from a heavy workout!
I love this powerhouse blend! AromaTouch is a mixture of Cypress Leaf, Peppermint Plant, Marjoram Leaf, Basil Leaf, Grapefruit Peel and Lavender Flower essential oils. Wow! What a blend. Cypress is often called an antispasmodic, meaning it can reduce muscle pain and cramps.
Marjoram has been used in a variety of traditional and folk remedies and can provide important health benefits. For example, compounds derived from marjoram have been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties.
To use the Aromatouch essential oil blend, apply with a carrier oil (if desired) to the area needing support. I love it on my feet and legs after a heavy day of walking or standing. It makes for some happy, happy feet!
The Best Road to the Best You
As I mentioned, my road to recovery involved using a protocol that I now suggest to everyone who struggles like I did. I suggest taking 2 Copaiba Softgels, 2 Turmeric Softgels, and 2 Deep Blue Polyphenol capsules every day – morning and evening and then following that with Frankincense essential oil and Aromatouch essential oil blend used topically as needed, diluted with fractionated coconut oil.
