Let’s talk about micellar water!
If you’ve never heard about micellar water, then you are definitely missing out! To me, this is the holy grail of face care. Okay maybe not THAT holy, but you get the gist. This is, by far, one of my favourite and most used products! And let me tell you why.
Micellar water is this unique combination of surfactants, humectants, solubilizers, and a few other star ingredients, all working in harmony to simultaneously cleanse, hydrate, and tone your skin – all in one step! It really is that simple.
Now that may sound a little too-good-to-be-true, but all it takes is to simply put it to the test for this unique product to shine! Even after a good cleanse, micellar water is able to pull out gunk that you didn’t even know was there, letting your pores breathe freely and removing the excess impurities contributing to all kinds of possible skin-conditions that anyone can experience.
Essentially, how it works is this: the combination of ingredients forms something called micelles. In simple terms, micelles are groups of tiny molecules that are both water-loving (hydrophilic) and oil-loving (lipophilic). Micelles’ special molecular structure makes them magnets for makeup, oil, and grime. That is why micellar water does not need to be rinsed off in order to cleanse your skin. It simply attracts all the impurities towards itself, leaving you with clean pores and hydrated skin.
Pretty cool, right?!
Due to its’ cleansing and hydrating properties, you could easily use just this one product as your daily skincare routine. And that is actually what I do some days when I’m feeling particularly rushed or lazy about adding the extra steps of my skincare routine. I have quite dry skin most of the time so I find that in the wintertime, when it is extra dry, I can only get away with a few days of just micellar water before my skin really needs a hydration boost. In summertime, I could go much longer. Personally, I just LOVE hydration boosts for my skin, so I like to add the Rose + Aloe Hyaluronic Acid Serum to my routine at least once a day – especially after hot showers which really dry out the skin.
Micellar water is still my most used product. I use it twice a day before I do anything else to my skin. And the Helichrysum and Cypress CPTG essential oils help to reduce redness and broken capillaries in my face – because I whacked my face with a jump rope at age 10 during my “crisscross-applesauce” jump rope opening. Still there 12 years later, but not as noticeable. Mind you, I wasn’t using Helichrysum on it until about a year or two ago.
So all that being said, I hope you get to experience firsthand how incredible micellar water really is!

Would you like to cleanse and hydrate your skin?
My daughter lives in BC, Canada and creates her own Micellar water using pure BC mountain water and other local ingredients. If you’re Canadian, I highly recommend reaching out to her and asking her personally to make you some products. She has her own business, Luminesse, but it’s done locally through word-of-mouth. Feel free to email her to get some Luminesse Micellar Water.
